  • Fastest 50 are the 50 companies globally (out of top 250) retailers with the highest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the period FY13 – 18.
  • 86% of the companies that feature among the fastest 50 in FY18 were also a part of the fastest 50 in the previous year.

We took you through the world’s top 10 retailers globally in the previous section. Now, it’s time to take your through 5 fastest-growing retailers globally according to Deloitte retail report.

India might be able to reserve its place in the top 10 global retailers, but it has reserved a place in 5 fastest-growing retailers globally.

According to Deloitte retail report 2020, composite CAGR for the fastest 50 retailers was 19.4% for FY13-18 (an increment of 2.3% points over the last time FY12-17).

It is said that companies in the fastest 50 were focused on eCommerce, building a strong consumer base and delivery network.

1. Reliance Industries Limited/Reliance Retail:

Mukesh Ambani is not just a name, not anymore. The name is itself a brand and a perfect example of a focused businessman.

After a plethora of achievements like:

  • Recording the biggest rise in market cap.
  • Featured on Fortune India 500 list.
  • First Indian company to hit ₹10 lakh crore market cap.
  • 6th largest energy firm in the world by market cap.
  • After 15 acquisitions, Reliance is soon to introduce Balenciaga in India.

These were some recent achievements Ambani made last year and early this year. And now giant Reliance is giant than ever before after getting featured in Deloitte retail report 2020.

Reliance Retail recorded retail revenue of $18.5 billion in FY18 (88.4% increment since the previous year).

Undoubtedly, RIL is on the top in Deloitte retail report and definitely THE fastest-growing retailer in the world.

2. Wayfair Inc:

Next on the list of Deloitte retail report is US-based online furniture and home décor retailer Wayfair Inc. Its annual revenue growth in FY18 was 43.6% as it witnessed increasing userbase.

Even after Wayfair recording loss for the year majorly due to advertising, the retailer has high hopes that it shall generate revenue in the future.

3. Vishop Holdings Limited:

The Chinese retailer moved up the ladder in overall top 250 global retailers on Deloitte retail report but it slipped from to 3rd position in Deloitte’s fastest 50 retailers list.

Vishop Holdings Limited witnessed a CAGR growth of 47.8%. Major benefits for Vishop is said to be an increase in active consumer base by 5% on year-on-year bases.

With an increase in active userbase, there was an automatic increment in online orders by 31%. But Vishop’s sales growth in FY18 was merely 8.4%.

4. JD.com Inc:

A Chinese eCommerce company headquartered in Beijing is one of the two giants in B2C retailing space in the country both by transactions and volume.

We can guess how big JD.com is by knowing that the retailer is competing head-to-head with Alibaba’s Tmail.

5. A101 Yeni Mağazacılık A.S

Shortly known as A101, is a Turkey retailer that has stores ranging from discount stores to retail supermarket chain 121+ stores.

A101 stores belong to Aydın Family. You can say that A101 stores are more or less like Reliance Retail. Not in terms of volume or customer base, not in terms of business offering either. But both of these stores are being run by a family.

So, these were the top 5 fastest growing retail stores according to Deloitte retail report rolled out this year. It was mesmerizing to see Reliance Retail hanging on top of the list with unbeatable numbers and achievements.
