Air New Zealand was named the year’s airline by AirlineRatings.com’s safety and consumer review website with the way it reacted to the engine problem by winning judges’ praise.
It’s the sixth time that Air New Zealand took the crown for what the site’s Australian-based editors said was for their multi-award-winning in-flight technology, operational security, environmental leadership, and staff motivation.
Air New Zealand is back on top in the annual Airline Quality Awards, winning back from Singapore Airlines the year’s prize. Before losing to Singapore Airlines in 2018, Air New Zealand won the title five times.
Although it lost the crown, after launching the latest A350 and 787-10 over the past two years, Singapore Airlines came in second, along with the upgraded A380s. All Nippon Airways from Japan claimed third place, hailed as a pioneer in cabin technology. Qantas, praised for their financial performance, lounge and domestic services, and Cathay Pacific were the top five to round out.
In addition to listing the top 20 airlines in the nation, AirlineRatings.com also honours individually in 13 categories.
