On Tuesday, FMCG major Britannia Industries said it’s partnered with Dunzo, an on-demand e-commerce site, to offer its product collection during the nationwide lockdown.
In less than an hour of ordering from the ‘Britannia Essentials’ website, consumers can get Britannia goods at their doorsteps through the Dunzo app.
A joint statement said that the first store in Bengaluru will be operational from Tuesday and will be expanded to other cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
“In this unprecedented period, it is crucial for us to maintain a continuous supply of our regular staples products in millions of Indian households. With a substantial increase in demand for home delivery, we are pleased to leverage Dunzo’s creative and advanced technology platform to allow products to be delivered seamlessly every day,” said Britannia Industries CEO Varun Berry.
Dunzo will import essential products from Britannia’s distribution centers, such as cookies, cakes, rusks, croissants, milkshakes, wafers, ghee and whiteners.
“There is a need for vital things around the country and in these unprecedented times, companies need to rise to the occasion. We at Dunzo are committed to helping our cities fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dunzo CEO and Co-founder Kabeer Biswas.
Earlier two FMCG manufacturers-ITC Foods and Marico-had announced these collaborations to get their goods delivered at the doorstep of the customer through the use of app-based aggregators service.

Under this collaboration, Swiggy and Zomato will supply essential food products from their homes within the portfolio of Marico which includes Saffola Oils, Saffola Plain Oats, Saffola Masala Oats, and Coco Soul Virgin coconut oil.
India is currently going through an unprecedented three-week full lockdown to avoid the spread of coronavirus, ending on April 14.
