The short video competition is becoming interesting among the platforms including Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube Shorts. Google-owned Youtube is leaving no stone unturned to compete with Tiktok, the leader of short video platforms. In a recent move, Youtube has announced $10,000 earnings per month to star creators in Youtube Shorts.

Youtube Shorts Fund for Creators

There was a time when creators and video platforms were criticizing the short video format. There was a heated debate between Tiktok creators and Youtube long video creators about supremacy. Since Youtube has also launched Youtube Shorts and Facebook has also introduced a short video format feature on Instagram with the name Reels.

It is quite clear that users have shifted their focus mainly on 30 seconds/60 seconds videos to consume online content. Tiktok, the subsidiary of Bytedance, is the most downloaded short video app globally since last year. To compete with it and making its platform popular, Youtube has introduced the Youtube Shorts Fund of $100 million for the fiscal year 2021/22. In the latest announcement, Youtube has also said that a creator can earn up to $10,000 monthly via the Youtube Shorts platform.

In an official statement related to the above details, Youtube said, “Each month, we’ll reach out to thousands of eligible creators to claim a payment from the Fund — creators can make anywhere from $100 to $10,000 based on viewership and engagement on their Shorts.”

More Details about Youtube Shorts Find

YouTube believes that the $100 million funds are beginning to develop a monetization model for Shorts on Youtube. The current fund is not related to Youtube Partner Programme(YPP), which is a common monetization method for any YouTuber to earn money via Youtube ads.

There are different eligibility criteria for Youtube Shorts monetization. Any creator can participate in it whether he/she belongs to YPP or not. YouTube has introduced 10 different ways to make money and build a business on the YouTube Shorts platform.

What is the most popular way to earn money via Youtube? Answering this question, Robert Kyncl, Chief Business Officerof YouTube said, “Ads have been at the core of creators’ revenue streams, and continue to be the main way that creators can earn money on YouTube. Creators receive the majority of the revenue generated from ads on YouTube.”

YouTube also earns money from the Youtube Premium subscription plan where users enjoy the uninterrupted video play without ads. The users can also download the music/videos via premium plans. It also allows users to play music /video in the background.

YouTube confirmed that paid subscription revenue is also distributed among the Youtube partners.

Super chat, paid monthly channel subscription, super thanks are other unique features to monetize the channel and videos on Youtube.
