Slayy Point is an Indian YouTube channel co-founded by Abhyudaya Mohan and Gautami Kawale. The channel contains fun videos on millennial-friendly topics such as the internet, Bollywood, social media, and other inane happenings in society.
- First things first, Who is ‘BINOD’?
While researching for the video which we posted ‘Why Indian Comments Section Is Garbage’ we came across this guy Binod who would just comment his name on videos and in a particular video 7 people liked his comment as well, so we found this very bizarre and funny and picked it up for our video. Binod hardly had 15 to 30 secs footage in our video but the audience picked that up and made it viral, so much so that the audience started commenting Binod everywhere.
- When and How Slayy Point started?
Gautami “It was all Abhyudaya idea when we were in our 10th std he and his friends wanted to start a YouTube channel which was related to cricket. But they were really shy to face the camera so they asked me to speak for them on the video. I didn’t know much about cricket but they would write the scripts for me and I would mouth it for them. Eventually, after the 12th std, all of our friends got admissions in different colleges in different cities, It was just the two of us remaining at the same location and we were passionate about our channel and we wanted it to keep it going. We kept changing genres to experiment with what would work on our channel. Later we realized that the real essence of being a YouTuber is to keep it real and just be as you are, so we switched to comedy and picked up topics that were millennial-friendly and relatable with our generation.”
- Did you guys plan to take it as a full-time career or was it just a hobby?
It initially started as a hobby but seeing how audiences love us and love our content we went on to be fearless we started putting up more and more content videos. And with each video, we put up the audiences love it even more.
- What is the secret of growing on YouTube? Can you share any growth hack?
The is no hack as such, the secret is to just be yourself, find the things that your good at, and how differently you can put it out there for the audience. People tend to upload few videos and when they don’t get views they tend to give up, but you have to keep going and keep putting up your content cause you never know what the audience will love and when will you go viral.
- How do you handle the trollers in your comment section?
We make a video out of it!. Hahaha…Honestly, we don’t get affected by it, if there are positive comments there has to be negative ones or trollers and memers as well. The best way is to ignore the trolls and just keep going and believe in your work.
- Being a creator, how tough is it to maintain the consistency of content?
We first concentrated on finding the base of our content which was millennial related and then we worked on everything around it, the topic is vast and we try to cover everything bit by bit. If you go to see that something weird always keeps coming up on social media or the net so we pick that up and put a SlayyPoint twist to it and write content around it and make the video.
- Any suggestions for upcoming YouTubers or those who want to make a career out of it?
Keep it real, be yourself, and have consistency in what you are doing.
