In February 2021, Disney+ has surpassed its user goals. It hit a high number of paid users in an interval of 16 months. Now, the Over The Top(OTT) platform has crossed 100+ million paid users since its launch on November 12, 2019.

How Disney+ Crossed 100 Million Paid Subscribers?

Initially, Disney+ started its operations in the US in November 2019. Currently, it is providing its services in 59 countries. It has made exponential growth in countries like New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and others.

In India, Disney+ service is available with Hotstar OTT. India played a crucial role in surpassing the 100 million paid customers. The country has added 30 million paid subscribers to make the total 100 million. This user base consists the 30% of total users available globally.

As per the plans, Disney+ has a goal to have 230 to 260 million users by 2024. If you look at the current growth, Disney+ will achieve this goal easily.

Talking about the current growth, Disney+ CEO Bob Chapek said:

“The enormous success of Disney+, which has now surpassed 100 million subscribers, has inspired us to be even more ambitious, and to significantly increase our investment in the development of high-quality content.”

The current pandemic has forced to closed Disney offline businesses like Disney Parks, Cruise Ship, etc. Wall Street is quite impressed with Disney+ growth. Company shares saw a surge to $203 but finally closed 2.9% down to $196.04 on Tuesday.

About Disney+ OTT Platform

CEO Bob further added:

“In fact, we set a target of 100+ new titles per year, and this includes Disney Animation, Disney Live-Action, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Our direct-to-consumer business is the Company’s top priority, and our robust pipeline of content will continue to fuel its growth.”

Disney+ Hotstar has a total download of 500 million+ on the Play Store. With the help of an 8 million users rating, it has an average user rating of 4.0. On the google play store, it is considered the 4th best entertainment app free. A few months back, Akshay Kumar Movie Laxmii broke all viewers’ records on Disney+ Hotstar. It shows the immense popularity of Disney+ in India.
