Sanjay Bhargava’s resignation news comes after Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet venture informed its users on January 4 that the Indian government had requested that all pre-orders be refunded until the company received licences to operate in the nation.
Sanjay Bhargava, the country director for India at Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet business, said on January 4 that he has resigned from his position. He also stated that his resignation taken effect from December 31, 2021.
“I have stepped down as Country Director and Chairman of the Board of Starlink India for personal reasons. My last working day was December 31, 2021,” Bhargava wrote on his LinkedIn profile. Among other details, Bhargava appealed for privacy.”
The details comes after Starlink informed its members on Tuesday that the Indian government had urged the business to refund all pre-orders until it was granted operating licences in the country.
The IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Bombay alumni started working with Starlink in October 2021.
Starlink, a part of Musk’s SpaceX aerospace firm, has received over 5,000 pre-orders for its devices in India, but it is still awaiting commercial licences, without which it will be unable to provide any services in the nation.
The Indian government has warned customers against subscribing to Starlink without first obtaining a licence, and has also issued a warning to the firm, advising it to stop collecting bookings and providing services.
