The year 2020 has been a challenging year for human beings. Covid pandemic has changed a lot of things about our daily routines. For a major portion of the current year, Work from Home is a common practice used by the employees of all organizations throughout the world. Technology has made WFH very easy. Employees are using different tools for video/audio conferencing to complete their official and personal activities. Zoom is one such tool for video/audio conferencing. And without a doubt, Zoom is leading among its competitors. Eric Yuan, founder, and CEO of Zoom, has played a key role in achieving zoom’s success.

In general, the CEO job is not that difficult but the covid pandemic has brought challenges for everyone. Remote working throughout the year was an unforeseen challenge faced by all CEOs. and this makes Comparably tasks of choosing the best CEOs quite difficult.

Comparably, Workplace culture, and compensation monitoring organizations have released a list of top CEOs for small/large companies. Anonymous voting by the employees makes the result interesting.

Anonymous feedback from December 1, 2019, to December 1, 2020, has been taken for deciding the top performer CEOs. and for the second consecutive year, Eric Yuan has been selected as No. 1 CEO for large companies (i.e. companies having more than 500 employees).

In a Comparably survey, Eric Yuan received an A+ grade or 4.9 out of 5 and a score of 98/100 from anonymous employees. HubSpot CEO Brian Halligan and Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai secured 2nd and 3rd rank respectively. In other well-known CEOs, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Apple’s Tim Cook achieved 40th and 8th rank respectively.

Eric Yuan worked in CISCO as a corporate Vice President. As a vice president for engineering from 1997 to 2001, he built Webex from scratch to $800 Million. He secured no.1 ranking in Glassdoor’s earlier list of top CEOs as well.

“Even though skyrocketing growth because of the pandemic, he remains at the No. 1 spot on our list for the second year in a row, cementing his place as one of the absolute best chief executives in business today.” Jaime Sarachit, Spokesperson of Comparably said.

Helping employees to be happy and thriving is the mission of Zoom CEO Eric. The survey also reveals that people want to work with visionary, transparent, and servant leaders who involve themselves in the growth and happiness of the employees.

Words like “visionary, inspiring, global strategy and innovation, transparent, genuine, humble, honorable, approachable and compassionate” were commonly encountered in employee’s comments.

Through the top CEOs list, lack of diversity was pointed out and it is a major worry. Among the top 50 CEOs list, very few CEOs from black, women, and Latinx categories are found. The study also suggested that a diverse team ensures productivity and growth. In the future, this CEOs list should look different to fill this diversity gap.

Comparably also did a survey for finding the best CEOs of small/medium companies. The listing of the top 50 small/mid-size company CEOs is given below:

Surely, the year 2020 was like a question asked out of the syllabus. These CEOs did their best to achieve success for their organizations as well as for their employees. From time to time, they gave strengths to their employees and encouraged them to perform in the pandemic time. Indeed these CEOs set an example of strong leadership amidst the covid crisis.
