Within few days of joining the Clubhouse, Newyork Times reported that Facebook is working on a copy of Clubhouse. Facebook is known for copying ideas from its competitors. This news again proves that yes, Facebook is a copycat.
Facebook is on the Way to Copy Clubhouse Idea
New York Times further revealed that the audio-based project is in the early stages of development. Still, there is no confirmation about when it will be launched by Facebook. The news came only within few days after Zuckerberg joined Clubhouse. Zuckerberg also had an interactive session about augmented and virtual reality over the Clubhouse room.
From the time he joined Clubhouse, people were suspicious about why he will join a newly launched social media platform. Facebook has already hijacked the idea of Stories from snap chat. Recently, the company copied Tiktok idea in the form of Reels. The disappearing messages feature in WhatsApp was also copied from snap chat. Facebook is known for such duplicated activities for a long time.
Asked about the Times report, a Facebook spokeswoman said the following in a statement:
“We’ve been connecting people through audio and video technologies for many years and are always exploring new ways to improve that experience for people.”
She further said that the company always experiments with new ideas. Right now, we have nothing new to tell. Facebook is already struggling with misinformation and offensive content moderation over Facebook. The company was directly blamed for the latest riots started by Trump supporters in the USA.
