Clubhouse became popular due to its unique feature of audio-based communication. Mark Zuckerberg heard about Clubhouse. He joined Clubhouse. Within few days of joining the Clubhouse, Newyork Times reported that Facebook is working on a copy of Clubhouse. Facebook is known for copying ideas from its competitors. This news again proves that yes, Facebook is a copycat.

Facebook is on the Way to Copy Clubhouse Idea

New York Times further revealed that the audio-based project is in the early stages of development. Still, there is no confirmation about when it will be launched by Facebook. The news came only within few days after Zuckerberg joined Clubhouse. Zuckerberg also had an interactive session about augmented and virtual reality over the Clubhouse room.

From the time he joined Clubhouse, people were suspicious about why he will join a newly launched social media platform. Facebook has already hijacked the idea of Stories from snap chat. Recently, the company copied Tiktok idea in the form of Reels. The disappearing messages feature in WhatsApp was also copied from snap chat. Facebook is known for such duplicated activities for a long time.

Asked about the Times report, a Facebook spokeswoman said the following in a statement:

“We’ve been connecting people through audio and video technologies for many years and are always exploring new ways to improve that experience for people.”

She further said that the company always experiments with new ideas. Right now, we have nothing new to tell. Facebook is already struggling with misinformation and offensive content moderation over Facebook. The company was directly blamed for the latest riots started by Trump supporters in the USA.

Similar Projects based on Audio and Other Details

Clubhouse has created a buzz within a limited period of time. Social media platform Twitter is also working on a competitor of Clubhouse named Spaces. Currently, Spaces is in Beta. Twitter acquired podcasting platform Breaker to apply their expertise in the Spaces project.

Mark Cuban, American Entrepreneur, is also working on a live audio app Fireside. From the current popularity of podcasts and Clubhouse, businesses are sure about the popularity of audio-based platforms in the future. Most of the companies want to take first-mover advantage.

Clubhouse is an invite-only audio-based platform. It has so many big tv stars, musicians, actors, and entrepreneurs as its users. Recently, Elon Musk also joined a room at the Clubhouse to discuss different issues related to his companies. Not only that, he also became an interviewer for Robinhood CEO.

Recently, some media portals blamed Clubhouse for misinformation about Corona Virus. Clubhouse officials denied it. The team confirmed that it has rules against hate speeches, misinformation, and offensive content.

Clubhouse was launched in 2020 by Alpha Exploration co-founder Paul Davison and former Google employee Rohan Seth.
