Both Sales Saw Huge Numbers in terms of revenue.

Flipkart said it was an “extraordinary” sales period for the company. “We have more than doubled our transaction units, customers from Tier II, III cities, which was the main focus for us. We believe we are closing the six days (of sales) with 70-75 percent of the festive market share. New customer growth is 50-60 percent,” Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group.

Flipkart claimed that over the six days it had clocked 70 billion views.

“Whether it’s the adoption of the Hindi interface or our accessibility constructs, engagement constructs like gaming, customers have engaged with brands they love like never before,” Krishnamurthy said. Amazon.in said it saw its biggest Great Indian Festival rising 15-fold and5-fold with smartphones and apparel, respectively.

“The Great Indian Festival’s first wave was our biggest celebration ever with Amazon.in experiencing the highest share of customer transactions and sales across all Indian marketplaces; orders from 99.4 million pin codes; more than 65,000 vendors from 500 + cities receiving orders in just five days; and customers from over 15,000 pin codes joining Prime,” said Amit Agarwal, senior vice president. With more than 50 percent of Indian customers purchasing appliances via EMI. Echo Devices saw a record 70-fold growth in what is the biggest sale ever for Amazon devices in India.

According to a research firm Nielsen survey, Amazon.in had the largest share of customer orders, order shares and price shares across all marketplaces in India between 28 September and 3 October. It had a 46% cost share, a 42% order share and a 50% transactional user share. Flipkart group numbers, like Myntra and Jabong, were 46% respectively, 38%, and 37%.

Recently, In July also Amazon’s Prime Day and Flipkart’s Big Shopping Days saw a revenue faceoff with Flipkart dominating the early battle. With the sales already over, both the giants have gained huge chunk of money and consumers too. With the upcoming time, this mouthwatering clash will be interesting.
