T-series, a name that needs no introduction, is India’s largest music and film production company that is owned by Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (SCIL) has seen new heights after Bhushan Kumar the son of Late Shri Gulshan Kumar and brother Krishan Kumar took over it after his sudden demise.

Early Days of T-Series:

T Series was initially founded by Gulshan Kumar as a small passion company in 1983 that used to sell pirated Bollywood songs. It became an all-time hit when they released many of the bestselling Bollywood tracks. Low level of competition in the Indian digital market is one of the main reasons for the gradual growth of T-Series. Over the years Bhushan Kumar further expanded the company’s business and started electronics, CDs, audio/video tapes and cassettes and film production.

Bhushan was 19 years old when he took over T-Series two decades ago in 1997 after his father Gulshan Kumar had just been shot in cold blood. Even though uncle Krishan Kumar (younger brother of Gulshan Kumar) was involved with T-Series earlier, people in the company struggled to deal with the unexpected elevation of the junior Kumar. However, he quickly if quietly asserted his authority over the company (officially yet called Super Cassettes Industries).

Entering film production:

T series entered into film production in 2001 with Tum Bin and sequel of Aashiqui i.e. Aashiqui 2 turned out to be a hit and it was a turning point for them.

Later on, this production house gave us many super hit films such as Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety, Baby, Airlift, Sarabjit, Hindi Medium, Raid and many more hits are still lined up for the year 2018.

T-Series Youtube Success:

They joined Youtube in the early days of 2006 but became active 2010 onwards. Their channel mainly showing music videos and film trailers are one of the most widely searched and viewed channels on Youtube.

The Channel had acquired soundtracks of most of the super hit movies such as Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Jab We Met, Don, etc. It also has about 26 other online properties such as  T-Series Telugu, Bollywood Classics, T-Series Tamil, and many more. They have always been on toes for digital promotion and making digital presence not only of T series but also of their songs and movies. With more than 100 million subscribers today, T series has become the highest subscribed channel on youtube today after knocking PewDiePie down to become the number one channel on YouTube.

“World’s biggest YouTube Channel, T-Series has achieved another YouTube milestone by being the first one to cross an astonishing #100MillionSubscribers. Thank you for being part of our journey. T-Series – Making India Proud,” the company tweeted after changing its cover picture on Twitter.

India as a content consumer market:

Over 35 years they have evolved and become an entertainment package, also a top entertainment channel in India. They have achieved many milestones on the journey to be the best in the country and abroad.

The strongest reason that stands for YouTube subscriptions being swayed by T-Series is its native content produced by Indians, for Indians and are considered more pleasing for the Indian viewers. T-Series, in fact, invites content creators to contribute to the content of the channel.

India is already the second largest online market worldwide with only about half of its population online, with 462 million people with internet access, as reported by Statista (2018). It is to be noted that the Indian population stands at 1.35 billion, according to a UN report 2018. This, in turn, will pose as a favorable market for T-Series to further expand its empire in the digital kingdom.

Team NextBigBrand.in congratulates T-Series on its recent success and many more to come 🙂
