Future Consumer Ltd, part of the Kishore Biyani-led Future Group, appointed Rajnikant Sabnavis as its new CEO on Tuesday, effective January 1, 2020.
Future Consumer is Future Group’s consumer goods arm and markets popular brands of packaged goods such as Tasty Treat, Voom fabric treatment, Karmiq dried fruits, Sunkist beverages, and Mother Earth, among others.
Devendra Chawla, a veteran of the future group, headed the business of Future Consumer until July 2017. In the meantime, the company’s head was appointed by Sadashiv Nayak, CEO, Future Retail.
The appointment of Sabnavis as the new CEO highlights the company’s focus on driving sustainable profitable growth by leveraging the management team’s deep expertise, the company said in a Tuesday release.
Sabnavis brings together over three decades of FMCG experience, having worked for over two decades with Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL). There he held positions of leadership across the categories of food and home care and personal care. He was COO, Jyothi Laboratories, in his last role.
He helped set up the company’s R&D and performance department, built product pipelines, go-to-market strategies, and an efficient distribution management system that led to significant growth in EBIDTA, market share gain, and gross margins in competitive segments like fabric care.
Currently, FCL has one Rs 1000crore plus brand in the food segment, Golden Harvest. According to the company, the other four food brands that can achieve the distinction are Tasty Treat, Karmiq, CleanMate and Dreamery. FCL has a total of 29 brands in its kitty. Out of this, 18 brands are in the food category and the remaining 11 are from personal care (PCP) and homecare categories. She also has a target to make it a Rs 20,000crore company from the current level of Rs 3,800-3,900 crore.

Sabnavis is a mechanical engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal with an MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai.
