On a top-20 list compiled by AirlineRatings.com, Qantas Airways Ltd. was named the best airline in the world, followed by Air New Zealand Ltd. and Eva Airways Corp. from Taiwan. Singapore Airlines Ltd. was sixth, ninth was Cathay Pacific Airways and tenth was Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd.
AirlineRatings.com said it takes into consideration factors like audits by government and industry agencies, reports of accidents and serious incidents, productivity, and age of the fleet.
PT Garuda Indonesia has crowned the most punctual carrier of 2019 in a separate survey conducted by OAG Aviation Worldwide Ltd. Copa Airlines SA from Panama ranked second among airlines arriving or leaving within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. The top five were rounded off by Japan’s Skymark Airlines Inc., Hawaiian Airlines Inc., and Latam Airlines Group SA. Delta Air Lines Inc. was the only major U.S. carrier to make it into the top 20.
