In the Asia Pacific region, the best and most punctual airlines in the world are. On a top-20 list compiled by AirlineRatings.com, Qantas Airways Ltd. was named the best airline in the world, followed by Air New Zealand Ltd. and Eva Airways Corp. from Taiwan. Singapore Airlines Ltd. was sixth, ninth was Cathay Pacific Airways and tenth was Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd.
AirlineRatings.com said it takes into consideration factors like audits by government and industry agencies, reports of accidents and serious incidents, productivity, and age of the fleet.
PT Garuda Indonesia has crowned the most punctual carrier of 2019 in a separate survey conducted by OAG Aviation Worldwide Ltd. Copa Airlines SA from Panama ranked second among airlines arriving or leaving within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. The top five were rounded off by Japan’s Skymark Airlines Inc., Hawaiian Airlines Inc., and Latam Airlines Group SA. Delta Air Lines Inc. was the only major U.S. carrier to make it into the top 20.

According to the International Air Transport Association, the number of global air passengers will double to 8.2 billion by 2037, due to economic growth and a growing middle class. More than half of the fliers would come from the Asia-Pacific region, driven by demand from countries such as China and India. This year, it is expected that around 4.7 billion people will travel, 4 percent more than in 2019, IATA said in December.
Among OAG-ranked mega airports— those serving more than 30 million airline seats— Moscow Sheremetyevo was top of the list for last year’s best on-time performance. The ranking is based on the proportion of flights arriving and leaving within 15 minutes of the schedule at each airport.

Unlike its airlines ‘ poor showing, the U.S. airports were top punctuality performers. Four of the top 10 airports on time are American, placing fourth in Atlanta. Seattle came in fifth and seventh in Los Angeles. John F. Kennedy Airport was in the top 10, while Bangkok and Amsterdam were out
