The world’s largest condom manufacturer – Karex Bhd of Malaysia, has said it now has a stock that will last just two months as its factories have shut down due to lockdown and it will lead to Global Condom deficit
Reuters stated that not even a single condom was manufactured by the company from three of its factories in Malaysia, as the country was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
India is the other major condom producing country along with Thailand and China and all three countries have been affected by the coronavirus. While China was the epicenter of the pandemic, India now has more than 900 cases of coronavirus.
Chief Executive Goh Miah Kiat of Karex told Reuters that demand for condoms continues to rise as people stay at home but because of the confusion all around, they don’t want to have babies.
He has also added that the shortage can go up to months in some countries. The company manufactures one in five condoms worldwide.

Meanwhile, reports also say the selling of sex toys in India has also risen, as Indians take ‘Quarantine & Chill’ very seriously.
Durex said the operations were going as planned and the company had no lack of supply. “Our Durex Online Shops remain open to business for our customers, many of whom will be unable to enter shops.”
