On Women’s day, Google made headlines for paying women more than men in a specific job category. In a world where the gender bias within the job market is extreme, this is a great step in the right direction. However, do not start cheering yet because even though Google pays women software engineers more, it’s doing something that reveals a deeper gender bias within its organization.

Google actually compensates men for the wage gap so that they do not raise queries about getting paid a lower salary than women!

Forbes conducted a report about this and found out that Google paid over 9.7 million USD as compensation for over 10k employees to make up for the fact that they get paid lower salaries than their counterparts. What a shame!

Imagine if companies like Google also had to pay compensation to the women for the same thing! They would be bankrupt within days!
