The US-based internet search engine giant Google is the most trusted and positively perceived brand in India, followed by WhatsApp and YouTube, as reported by London-based market research and data analytics firm YouGov.
The list of YouGov annual “brand health rankings” for India also feature homegrown startups such as the restaurant aggregator Swiggy (5th Rank) and travel company MakeMyTrip (6th Rank).
These rankings are based on an index score which is calculated by taking the average of quality, impression, value, satisfaction, reputation and whether users will recommend these brands to others.

The year 2018 was a roller-coaster ride for Zomato. The 10-year-old food tech company acquired enough funding to match up with its rivals, it also launched loyalty programs such as piggybank that helped the customer save big on the food orders. YouGov said that these movements have helped the brand strengthen its perception among consumers.

Google also topped the global rankings. Based on data from 29 countries, eight of the top 10 “healthiest brands” worldwide are tech firms.
YouGov is a UK-based British Internet market research and data analytics firm with operations in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
It specializes in market research through online methods. The methodology involves obtaining responses from an invited group of Internet users and then evaluating those responses in sync with the demographic information.
YouGov’s online methods use no field-force, its costs are lower than some face-to-face or telephone methods.
