Haldiram Goes Global With Sales In U.S. Via Amazon Global Sales Plan

  • Indian savory and confectionery major Haldiram signed up for Amazon’s global selling program to e-tail its delicacies in the United States.
  • In 2015, Amazon India initiated the global sales plan. Currently, the program brings about $1 billion in cumulative exports and the company’s eyes to take that number to $5 billion over three years.
  • While, thanks to Amazon’s international store that sells a selection of items from the USA, Indian consumers can also get their hands on products from the US. In Indian rupees, Amazon supports these transactions.

You can now buy Haldiram items like bhujia, gulab jamun, soan papdi in the U.S., as well as Indian savory and confectionery major Haldiram signed up for Amazon’s global selling program to e-tail their delicacies in the U.S., the company said Tuesday.

We want our presence among our global customers to expand further. Working with the international distribution network of Amazon enables us to have direct access to the American market, “Haldiram’s snacks managing director Pankaj Agarwal said in a statement.

The partnership with e-tailer Amazon is expected to accelerate U.S. sales of Haldiram and will also help the company grow and make inroads on the U.S. market. While in the United States, FMCG giant Haldiram will be able to discover lakhs of new buyers, the region already accounts for 40 percent of the exports of the Haldiram. “We offer them (Haldiram’s) end-to-end quality solutions made in India goods to international customers through the global sales system,” said Abhijit Kamra, head of global trade, Amazon India. According to Abhijit Kamra, Amazon’s global sales program enables e-commerce exports with global customer access.

In 2015, Amazon India initiated the global sales plan. Currently, the program brings about $1 billion in cumulative exports and the company’s eyes to take that number to $5 billion over three years. Approximately 50,000 Indian small manufacturers, brands and traders are already benefiting from the global e-commerce export channel of Amazon and selling 150 million products across 12 international Amazon markets.

While, thanks to Amazon’s international store that sells a selection of items from the USA, Indian consumers can also get their hands on products from the US. In Indian rupees, Amazon supports these transactions.

Haldiram snacks started as a small entity in Rajasthan’s Bikaner in 1937. Haldiram now retails its products in more than 80 countries. Haldiram’s, which started as a small snacks business in Bikaner, is now worth 3.3 Billion USD. This snack food giant has been making headlines for all the right reasons lately. From teaming up with a French Bakery called Brioche Doree to courting the second-largest snack foods brands in the world – Kellog’s, Haldiram’s has certainly come a long way.
