French communication giant, Havas Media has acquired a majority stake in digital service agency Langoor for an undisclosed sum. The Bengaluru-headquartered Langoor, founded in 2010 by Ruchir Punjabi and Venugopal Ganganna will be renamed as Langoor Havas said Rana Barua, group CEO of Havas India. Ganganna will continue with the agency and will join Havas at a new position of Chief Digital Officer.

Rana also said that, “The Langoor acquisition demonstrates Havas Group’s commitment to expanding its scale and expertise in India with a focus on exponential growth, new business momentum, and building and leading future-ready teams,” “The Langoor acquisition demonstrates Havas Group’s commitment to expanding its scale and expertise in India with a focus on exponential growth, new business momentum, and building and leading future-ready teams,”

Langoor boasts of 170 employees and presence across India, Australia, and the Middle East. The client rooster of the agency has big names such as Unilever, Fossil, Wipro, Emami, Epson, Adobe, Infosys and Moneygram. The company saw a 30 percent year-on-year jump in the revenue.

Within a year, this is the second big acquisition by Havas Group in India. In May, the company had acquired Think Design, another independent user experience consultancy, and design studio for an undisclosed sum. The French giant has made a huge ambitious growth plan including a series of acquisitions to grow its Indian pool of employees to 1000 from 300 by the end of 2019.

“Digital business is booming in India and bringing Langoor on board is an important new step to further strengthening our digital skills locally,” said Yannick Bolloré, chairman and CEO of Havas Group.

He went on to say that the combined expertise of Langoor and Think Design will boost Havas’ digital offering in India, the world’s fastest-growing advertising market.

The new venture will have three focus areas- health, vernacular and business. It will expand these services to markets outside of India in the coming months, mentioned Barua.
Both of Punjabi and Ganganna said in a joint statement that they pride themselves in having created an agency focused on digital brand thinking- which is the future. This integration will help the Havas Group to add scale to the depth of services and help both of them to grow further.
Recently, Havas has been lagging behind International and local communication networks like GroupM, IPG Mediabrands, Madison and Dentsu Aegis Network and that is the reason the leadership went through a restructuring in October in 2018 to bolster its growth strategy and leadership with an integrated group structure in India led by Barua as Group CEO and Bobby Pawar as chairman and chief creative officer.
Let’s how this Langoor helps Havas to get on the tree of advertisement.
