  • World’s 10 Most Valuable Sports Team List is largely dominated by the National Football League of American Football and Major League Basketball teams.
  • Dallas Cowboys maintain the top place followed by New York Yankees of Major League Basketball and Real Madrid from the Spanish Football League grabs the 3rd place.

Forbes recently listed the most valuable franchise teams across all the sports. This list is largely dominated by the National Football League of American Football and Major League Basketball.

The cutoff to rank among the 50 most valuable sports teams in the world is $2.075 billion, up from last year to $125 million and from five years ago to $1.2 billion. On the heels of ballooning media rights contracts and more restrictive collective bargaining agreements that limit player expenses, the profits of sports teams have skyrocketed. In all sports, there are 52 teams worth at least $2 billion, up from one team for 2012, Manchester United.

Real Madrid ranks third among the eight soccer clubs in the top 50 at $4.2 billion. The La Liga club was the last sports team that was deemed the most successful in the world before the Cowboys won the title in 2016. Real has banked over $100 million to win last year’s crown of its second straight Champions League.
