For the eighth consecutive year with Rs. 3.8 lakh crore net worth, as mentioned in the 2019 IIFL Wealth-Hurun India Rich List, Mukesh Ambani is India’s richest man. The chief of Reliance Industries is also the world’s 8th richest man, the report says.

Ambani is followed by the London-based SP Hinduja and the Rs 1.5 lakh crore family. Wipro founder Azim Premji with Rs 1.2 lakh crore is on the third spot, while Cyrus Poonawalla bagged Rs 89,800 crore on the fourth spot. Lakshmi Mittal is fifth with Rs 87,900 crore, Uday Kotak is sixth with Rs 75,600 crore, Gautam Adani is seventh with Rs 70,600 crore, eighth is Dilip Sanghvi with Rs 67,300, and the ninth richest Indians are Cyrus Pallonji Mistry and Shapoor Pallonji Mistry with Rs 67,100.

Mumbai was top of the list with 42 billionaires out of the Indian cities, while Delhi followed with 25 billionaires on the second spot. Bengaluru and Hyderabad have respectively been ranked third and fourth.

No women made it to the top ten richest list of Indians. The richest woman in India is the Smita V Crishna of Godrej Group with Rs 43,400 crore, ranked 302 worldwide. With Rs 32,800 crore and Rs 25,100 crore, Roshni Nadar and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw are on second and third place.

Madhukar Parekh and Pidilite’s family saw Rs 11,200 crore increase of 60 percent, while Ranjan Pal of Manipal Education saw Rs 14,300 crore increase of 54 percent. Azim Premji and Mukesh Ambani saw a 42% and 20% increase.

Twenty-five of the richest Indians has wealth equal to 10 percent of India’s GDP, according to the report.

While the obvious Mr. Ambani tops the list, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma is only startup guy who features in the list along with big business names. As per the reports, Vijay Shekhar Sharma has a net worth of ₹20,400 crores. Sharma holds rank 41 in the list which has 953 entrants. He even ranks higher than Sunil Mittal of Airtel, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon and Anand Mahindra of Mahindra Group.

With a net worth of Rs. 7,500 crores, Ritesh Agarwal tops the category of self-made billionaires.

The report looks at 233 new additions to the 2019 IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List. Pharma keeps contributing to the fresh addition, followed by food & drinks, jewelry, software & services. It’s also important to remember that all of the top five fastest wealth makers come from unicorns like Udaan, Byjus, and Oyo.
