Susanne Pulverer has been named as the new and first woman Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) for IKEA’s India division, which is part of the Ingka Group. Pulverer, an experienced IKEA executive, succeeds Peter Betzel, the outgoing India CEO, who will move on to his next role within the IKEA Group.
Pulverer joined IKEA in 1997 and has held various positions within the company. She’s in India for the third time. She began her IKEA career as the IKEA Group’s Environmental Manager before moving on to IKEA of Sweden, the Product Development Company, where she held numerous positions in different business categories.
She subsequently relocated to India in 2007 to lead IKEA South Asia’s purchasing department, where she built a close bond with the country and its people. Susanne was the Managing Director of IKEA Communications, the in-house agency of IKEA, for 5 years before returning to IKEA India in 2017. During that time, she led the organisation through a major transformation to drive better business and people results. Susanne’s most recent position in India was as the head of market development for Delhi NCR, where she also oversaw the sustainability agenda and local community activities that are critical to IKEA’s vision and purpose to become a climate-positive company by 2030.

During his term in India, Peter led the IKEA India team on a transformational journey and, guided IKEA in India through extraordinary times posed by the epidemic, with his great commitment for people and business.
