  • The popularity of the Chinese social media app TikTok has increased sales of mobile phone tripods and accessories up to 10 times a year, allowing individuals to record brief videos and post them online.
  • An enormous spike in product categories, with sales ranging from 300 percent to 10 times in a year is being recorded. More interestingly, greater sales emanate from tiny towns and cities, said, industry insiders

Flipkart and Amazon should be thanking the short-video app TikTok. The popularity of the Chinese social media app has increased sales of mobile phone tripods and accessories up to 10 times a year, allowing individuals to record brief videos and post them online.

Many products such as tripods to support smartphones while shooting the videos and other products such as phone owners, connectors and on-the-go wires are selling like hot cakes across e-commerce platforms and retail shops in India as more and more individuals are taking their’ talent’ to the video-sharing app.

An enormous spike in product categories, with sales ranging from 300 percent to 10 times in a year is being recorded. More interestingly, greater sales emanate from tiny towns and cities, said industry insiders, where individuals use applications like TikTok in the hope of becoming influencers of social media, and in turn get cash from advertisers to plug their product into a bid to be seen by the big base of followers. “Today’s Tiktok is the largest killer app, more so in rural markets.

Short-term video sharing will become India’s largest killer app that drives the sale of these value-added mobile phone accessories like LED flashlights, tripods, and stands, “brand specialist Harish Bijoor said. “Video sharing is added value, and the financial advantage is added value.

The more followers you have on your video-sharing app, the better and the more visual you share, the faster you become an influencer, and then follow financial advantages, “Bijoor said.

Despite its popularity, TikTok has focused on issues about privacy breaches, data security and is a simple vehicle for internet harassment worldwide and in India.

“TikTok has given people an avenue and a voice to showcase their talent and connect with like-minded people. This spirit has led to a lot of creators to come forward, create content and showcase their passion, talent, and skills amongst a varied audience, thereby carving an independent identity,” the company said.

A number of variables have worked for the popularity of TikTok, which, as per market watchers, has stimulated demand for its associated accessories. Indian carriers provide tariffs and plans for rock-bottom information that offer the truckload high-speed information. Second, the simple accessibility of mobile phone accessories via online portals, which today delivers a greater amount of pin codes than before. Third, a wide range of prices–Rs 300-5,000–allowing individuals of all classes to buy these accessories.

And finally, the capacity in local languages to create videos.
