Hurun Global Rich List 2021 is out. It has brought some interesting number. As per the latest report, the pandemic did not affect much of these billionaires. As per Hurun data, India has added 40 extra billionaires to make the total 177.
If we add Indian origin billionaire to the existing Indian Billionaire list, totally stands at 209.
Globally, research finds a total of 3228 Billionaires. Compare to the last year. The research found 412 extra billionaires this year. On average, 8 new billionaires were created every week in the last year
Mukesh Ambani Tops the List of Indian Billionaire
$83 billion wealth makes Mukesh Ambani the wealthiest Indian. His wealth saw a jump of 24%. He climbed one spot in the global list to 8th richest person compare to the 9th rank of last year.
Gautam Adani is another billionaire whose fortune increased exponentially in 2020. His wealth is almost doubled to $32 billion in 2020. He jumped to the 48th richest person worldwide position with an improvement of 20 positions.
Vinod Adani, Gautam brother, wealth increases by 128% to $9.8 billion. Hurun prepared this list after considering data up to January 15.
The Indian economy was badly affected by the pandemic but it did not disturb the top billionaires.
Hurun India chief researcher Anas Rahman revealed that Indian billionaires’ wealth increased due to traditional industries and cyclic industries, whereas technology played a key role in wealth creation in the US and China.
Shiv Nadar, the HCL owner, is the third richest Indian with a total wealth of $27 billion.
Highest Gainers, Female Billionaires and Other Details
If we talk about the highest gainers, Jay Chaudhry’s name comes first. Riding on the success of his software company Zcaler, his growth grew 274% to $13 billion.
Byju’s owner Byju Ravindran and his family saw a 100% jump in his wealth to $2.4 billion.

Some of the billionaires from India lost their wealth this year. Patanjali’s Acharya Balkrishna lost 32% of his wealth. Now, his wealth is $3.6 billion.
Geographically, Mumbai has the maximum billionaires from India with a total of 60. Delhi has a total of 40 billionaires, whereas Bengaluru occupies 3rd position with 22 billionaires.
If we talk through a gender perspective, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw from Biocon leads the women list with $4.8 billion in wealth. Smita V. Krishna from Godrej occupies 2nd position in Indian women with a total wealth of 4.7 billion. Lupin’s Manju Gupta stands at 3rd position with a wealth of $3.3 billion.
Research classified 118 billionaires as self-made billionaires. China is home to a maximum self-made billionaire with a tally of 932 out of 1058 Chinese billionaires.
Globally, Elon Musk is the richest billionaire with a total wealth of $197 billion. Jeff Bezos from Amazon is in the second richest person position with a total wealth of $189 billion.
