  • India has cemented its position as the second-largest market for LinkedIn, a Microsoft-owned professional networking company, with a 24 percent jump over the past year in its Indian user base, bringing the total to more than 62 million users, second only to the US home market.
  • LinkedIn currently employs more than 1,100 employees across its three offices in India — Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Gurugram, with a full-fledged R&D department in Bengaluru, focused on developing Indian and global market items.

India has cemented its position as the second-largest market for LinkedIn, a Microsoft-owned professional networking company, with a 24 percent jump over the past year in its Indian user base, bringing the total to more than 62 million users, second only to the US home market.

“After the US, India is the second-largest market and the Asia Pacific region’s largest. We also have over half a million companies and half a million active jobs listed on India’s website. After launching in India, we have expanded 20X, which is phenomenal, and specifically, in the last four years we have tripled our membership base, “said Ashutosh Gupta, India’s country manager for LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Lite, the first product made in India, has already been released in more than 60 markets and 10 million downloads have been reached.

The business also incorporated training and distribution as two other products after talent and advertising strategies.

A key factor for companies that adopt LinkedIn is their ability to reach the target audience, while the B2C segment has been driven by people seeking outcomes such as jobs or networking.”I think our value proposition has resonated with people. Our network’s size and scale make it effective. Young people are constantly thinking about moving forward in life and we have as many job openings as possible, “he said. In the future, the focus of LinkedIn is to bridge the “network gap.”

This is reflected in the APAC survey findings of LinkedIn’s’ Network Trends,’ which highlights that 42 percent of Indian professionals claim to have an above-average network, and 88 percent feel satisfied with their current jobs out of that 42 percent.

To celebrate this milestone, we also announce today the Top Voices 2019 India List featuring our most committed members who helped to build stronger communities and conversations on the platform,’ added Gupta.

In November 2009, the company expanded its international presence by establishing its first office in Mumbai, India. Today, more than 5,000 active jobs and 5,57,000 companies are represented, thus, providing the Indian workforce with a big repository of career and networking opportunities.

Notably, member engagement on the LinkedIn feed worldwide is fuelled by record levels of engagement in-feed content, original content and platform video growth at an all-time high recording session growth of 27 percent year-over-year and 30 plus billion sessions in FY19.

LinkedIn recognized the strong technical and engineering talent of India in November 2011 and built the first R&D center outside of Bengaluru’s Mountain View.

Today, this R&D center is responsible for building community products for the global member base of LinkedIn and is a strategic partner for the Global Trust Organization.

The annual ‘ Top Voices 2019 India List ‘ of LinkedIn includes names from various industries such as dignitary government Kiran Bedi, spiritual leader Sadhguru, businessman Adhil Shetty, stand-up comedian Rahul Subramaniam, and business leader Poonam Barua.
