India is home to the second biggest web customer base in the world, and all the credit goes to Jio. India accounts for 12% of all web users worldwide, said Mary Meeker’s 2019 Internet Trends report. The study also indicated that Jio is one of the most innovative websites outside the US.

“At 3.8 billion, the amount of internet users includes more than half of the world’s inhabitants,” it said, adding that China has the biggest base, representing 21% of all internet users worldwide. The US has 8% of worldwide users of the web.
Global development of internet users is strong but slowing, according to the study. The development was 6% in 2018, down from 7% in 2017. Reliance Jio 307 million subscribers to mobile phone service and the business is now expanding offline e-commerce access, the study said.
“By incorporating Reliance Retail’s physical marketplace with Jio’s digital infrastructure & services, we are creating a hybrid, online-to-offline trading platform,” Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said.
“This platform will bring together 350 million client footfalls in Reliance Retail stores, 307 million clients of Jio connectivity and 30 million tiny retailers across India providing the last-mile physical market connectivity.”
Jio’s free voice call and inexpensive information plans helped the business increase its information use by doubling in a single year in its early days. The study placed web laws at mild levels in India. India has a variety of legislative bodies, many with the authority to control access.
On content regulation, it said that India often has “event-driven content filtering with some voice security without immediate government input.” Moreover, there is some censorship, usually to remove “insulting content,” the study said. Jio network’s annual information usage ranged from 17-18 exabytes, which is 17-18 billion GB, in 2018, according to the study! That was nearly twice the increase in FY 2017 from 9 exabytes of information use. There are also about 11,000 offline retail shops in Reliance Jio.
