Aniston shared a photo of her in her debut with the fellow cast from world-famous sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S.— Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.
“And now we’re both’ FRIENDS’ from Instagram. HI INSTAGRAM,” she said of the image, which has earned more than 7.7 million likes so far.
Her bio line reads, “My friends call me Jen.” The actor’s page attracted more than 116,000 followers within an hour of her debut, and her first post received hundreds of thousands of likes before it collapsed, The Guardian reported.
And now in a press release on Wednesday, Guinness World Records announced it. Aniston gained one million followers in just five hours and 16 minutes, nabbing the record for the fastest time to do so.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, whose joint @sussexroyal account racked up one million followers in April in five hours and 45 minutes. Before that, the record belonged to K-pop star Kang Daniel, who reached one million followers in 11 hours and 36 minutes.
Her “The Morning Show” co-star Reese Witherspoon, ex-husband Justin Theroux, and Cox were among those who greeted the 50-year-old actor on Instagram.
Witherspoon and Theroux both left on Aniston’s post a welcome message.
“YASSSS!!! Insta Jen welcome!!” Witherspoon wrote. While Theroux posted, “Woot-Woot,” using the hashtag #first. Cox shared a throwback photo of hers with Aniston on her Instagram page.
“Hi, Jen! Welcome to the social media world…it sucks. You’re gonna love it!” she captioned the photo. This year, Aniston and the rest of the “Friends” cast are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fan-favorite show. The NBC series ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004.
