Mukesh Ambani has opened a box complete of freebies, along with announcing the launch of the much-awaited Jio Fiber, which is Jio’s fixed-line broadband company. These fresh plans will rival the ‘free for three months’ scheme of his own Jio, which was issued three years ago at the moment of the release.
Fixed-line download speeds in the US is around 90 Mbps. In India, even the most basic Jio Fiber scheme will begin at 100 megabits per second (Mbps), and we are planning to go up to 1 Gbps. India will have a broadband quality no less than anybody in the globe.”
Ambani pledged as he addressed his shareholders at the 42nd Annual General Meeting of his company previously this month.
As per his announcements, being a Jio Fiber home will come with the following benefits.
The Jio Fiber Plans start at Rs. 700
Jio Fiber plans start at Rs. 700 a month (100 Mbps starting speed) and can go as high as Rs. 10,000. A holder of a Jio Fiber scheme will be able to make free calls throughout the nation. Added to that, those in the United States and Canada who want to call their families or friends can opt for an unlimited scheme of Rs 500 per month.
First day First Show
Premium Jio customers will be able to watch a film in their homes on the very day it is released.
We’re calling this Jio First Day, first show,” Ambani said.
Jio Fiber provides an annual subscription free HD or 4 K LED TV and 4 K Set-top box. Added to that, Ambani promised that many OTT platforms would bundle their services.
We simplify content acquisition and consumption. It’s costly and cumbersome to keep track of various subscriptions and packs for favorite shows, “Ambani said.
Mixed Reality Device
Mukesh Ambani’s children Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani along with RIL’s President Kiran Thomas demonstrated shopping, gaming and learning that is possible via a mixed reality device. A mixed-reality device is able to combine the features of virtual reality and augmented reality.
Airtel Internet TV provides similar services with a TV box running on Android TV OS and features an increased user experience. At Rs 3,499, all TV channels and internet content from OTT platforms can be accessed by subscribers. However, unlike Jio’s set-top box, it does not promote gaming or MR content.
As of September 5, 2019, all these facilities by Jio will be accessible, as announced by Mukesh Ambani. From mid-2020, the premium Jio Giga Fiber customers will get to watch new movies on the day of its release itself.
