After the TikTok ban in India, local apps tried to woo Indian users. One such short video app is Trell. It got a lot of popularity among Indian users. To take the more benefit of its user base, Trell has started social commerce platform for its users within the app.

Trell is a social media platform with the main focus on lifestyle content. As per the new endeavor, Trell fans can buy personal care products and cosmetics. Trell Influencers will post the reviews of different products. Users will get recommendations in their feeds while browsing content.
With this feature, Trell wants to take the advantage of E-commerce popularity among young generations. Trell has signed a deal with more than 500 emerging brands to sell and advertise their products through its platform.
Other than makeup and personal care, health products will also be listed on Trell social commerce.
“With social commerce, we are enabling millions of key opinion leaders, across the country, to become micro-entrepreneurs and make a sustainable source of income by sharing their learnings and experiences with the community,” said Pulkit Agrawal, co-founder of Trell.

Trell grabbed the TikTok user base after the latter was banned. The platform has grown 10x since the exit of the Chinese ban. It allows users to create content in their local languages.
5 million new users joined the video app after the Chinese app ban controversy. More than 75 million users access and create videos through Trell. On average, a user spends 40-45 minutes on the platform.
In the month of August, it raised around $11 million from different investors in series A round of funding. The app was founded in 2017 by IIT Alumni Pulkit Agarwal with his other friends.
Through Trell, a user can share a video of a maximum of 3 minutes in length. The videos could be about anything ranging from beauty tips, fashion, personal care, technology and gadgets, movies and TV shows reviews, etc. The community platform also lets individuals connect with others in their native languages. With apps like Trell, influencers are trying to compensate for the huge monetary loss they faced after the TikTok ban.
Currently, the app has 20 content categories in eight Indian languages. Machine Learning algorithms and Artificial Intelligence amalgamation with other new features make the app popular among the users.
