Microsoft owned Global professional networking company LinkedIn brings this news on Mahesh Narayan’s appointed as an India country’s head effective from 7 January 2019.

Mahesh will be reporting to Olivier Legrand, LinkedIn’s managing director for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and will be given the designation as Asia Pacific Senior Manager. The company was seeking a new head since their India’s head and vice-president of international products Akshay Kothari quit in August.

Akshay joined LinkedIn in 2013 after Pulse, a company he co-founded, was acquired by LinkedIn. Since then he played a vital role in the company’s growth. LinkedIn had about 37 million active users. Now continue to be the leader in the US, has 150 million users, China with 40 million users.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to further LinkedIn’s vision and mission in an important market that is rapidly digitizing. LinkedIn has created a meaningful impact on the professional lives of millions of people, myself included, and I am excited to work with the team to deliver even more value to members and customers,” Narayanan says.

Narayanan previously worked with Saavn India in January 2015 and was appointed as Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was upraised to Managing Director within 18 months of his joining. He left saavn in August this year after its strategic integration with Jio Music in March this year. He has been previously working with companies like AdMob, Google, Sociomantic before joining Saavn and he started his career as Business Development Manager at Bidorbuy.com.

“India continues to be a strategic market for LinkedIn, and we are pleased to have Mahesh join our team to take our business to its next growth chapter,” Legrand said on Narayanan appointment.

Mahesh is an elite executive who is recognized as one of the top digital leaders and has a strong track record in leading growth businesses and his deep experience and knowledge will bolster our efforts in India- Legrand added.

After the US, India covers the largest market with the growth rate of 3.8 million users in 2009 to more than 58 million users in July 2018 which scaled up rapidly in last five years under Kothari with LinkedIn.

In the upcoming years more and more business will rely on digital mediums. Labor crunch is spread across the country. In upcoming years Digital Mediums will take over and will make the situation much better.
