  • Marketing head of Uber India – Manisha Lath Gupta quits Uber India.
  • Less than a year’s journey in Uber India has been a rollercoaster ride for the marketer.

Manisha Lath Gupta recently decided to step down from her role at Uber India & South Asia as CMO (chief marketing officer). At Uber, she looked after marketing initiatives for Rides and food business (now merged with Zomato) for India & South Asia.

While Manisha’s next move is still not known, but it seems like she’s been aiming for something big. Let’s not forget Indra Nooyi for her behemoth role in PepsiCo who is also a dank inspiration to all the young women entrepreneurs.

Manisha Lath Gupta succeeded Sanjay Gupta (the then marketing head for Uber India). The decision came after appointing Pavan Vaish as Head of Central Operations.

After knowing things about Manisha Lath Gupta, she will definitely be another dank inspiration to all aspiring ladies who want to blossom their future in the corporate sector.

Manisha Lath Gupta & Her Roller Coaster Journey:

Coming from Chandigarh, Manisha Lath Gupta is an IIM graduate in 1997 and worked with Unilever for 8 straight years. In 2004, she joined Colgate Palmolive for another 6 years and then got associated with Axis Bank.

While she was understanding the baking sector from her own perception, her interest in art collection got even more serious. Manisha and her husband started collecting pieces of art merely out of the hobby, Slowly and gradually this hobby turned into fascination and the duo started exploring almost all the art galleries.

A Banker, An Art Collector: A Combination That’s Not So Common!

A banker and art collector, a less known combination isn’t it?

While she was a banker, she observed that digital channels are a major source of acquisitions, engagement and service quality.

In 2005, Manisha started IndiaArtCollectors (which was later rebranded as Mojarto) – A platform that brings artists, galleries, buyers, and dealers together.

Art still being an underrated niche in India, the biggest challenge was community building, drawing attention and building a loyal customer base that was done majorly through word of mouth in the initial days.

Even after all investments in technology and operations, volumes didn’t scale up as expected. By this time Manisha Lath Gupta realized that customer mindset through media, PR and storytelling was a crucial need.

Luckily, NDTV was looking to set up an eCommerce venture around art and that’s where IndianArtCollectors collaborated with NDTV and scaled up.

Currently, Mojarto is a strong community with more not less than 17000 original and curated artworks and products. With a team of 15 members, Mojarto has deep roots in the world of art and together, they are elevating art scenarios in India.

What Did We Learn from Manisha?

While people have all the reasons to mourn and feel dissatisfied about their current position or thinking about future scenarios. But this lady, Manisha Rath Gupta carried a different level of optimism and mindset.

With her never-give-up attitude, she has become a strong personality and an inspiration to all. Her corporate career of more than 20 years speaks a lot than what can deliver. But all in all, it was wonderful to go through Manisha Lath Gupta’s life and profession.

We are sure you will be amazed to see her LinkedIn account.
