In its latest statement, Mother Dairy announced the appointment of Sangram Chaudhary as its new MD. Chaudhary will take charge from May 1, replacing Sanjeev Khanna, who left the company in February due to health issues. Chaudhary with his decades of experience is the right choice without a doubt.
As of now, Sangram Chaudhary was part of the National Dairy Development Board as the Executive Director. His work there was unparalleled with numerous developments he brought in the Indian Dairy market. During his 30 years of service, he was instrumental in the National Dairy Plan becoming a reality. In addition to that, he was also responsible for different policies at the national and state level, animal nutrition, health, livestock-related issues, and breeding as well. During his stint at NDDO, the major attributes that helped him rise through the ranks were the leadership qualities, organizational development, and improvement of the institution, quality management, and project management. With several of the top guns retiring or leaving the company, Chaudhary is the perfect solution to take the company ahead.
Nagarajan Shivaramakrishnan, former MD, resigned two years ago and since then the company has faced quite a few high-profile exits. Subhashis Basu, head of dairy business, TSR Murali, head of R&D and group CFO Meghnad Mitra are a few of the names who left the company in these two years.
With a postgraduate degree in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management and a Masters of Science in the specialization of Life Sciences from the University of Gujarat, Chaudhary is an expert at what he is doing. This is exactly why Mother Dairy is so excited about his appointment. The company commissioned in 1974 as a subsidiary of NDDO has reached the homes of almost every Indian with its dairy products. With its direct competitor, Amul India, growing faster than ever, Mother Dairy has its task cut out.
