MX Player is a leading video app that works on Android and iOS. The brand has recently announced the fact that it has pivoted its app into a platform that hosts premium content. They aim to be as big as Amazon Prime and Netflix and will be providing services within the same vein. On 19th February, MX Player announced that it is launching 5 new proprietary shows that are labeled as MX original series. This is only the beginning for this new on-demand video platform.

When talking about its own content, MX Player has said that it has over 10,000 hours of original content on its platform – created by ‘MX Creators’. They also have content from ALTBalaji, SonyLIV, Arre, and TVF. The content they offer is available for free.

According to the CEO of MX Player, Karan Bedi “As more people move towards consuming content online, we want to create digital-first stories that appeal not only to urban audiences but also much beyond,”

Apart from its own content, this OTT platform is also streaming a range of movies, news shows, music videos, and sports content. Moreover, the brand also offers content in a range of languages like Hindi, English, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, and Marathi.

MX Player has seen 650 million downloads and can run equally well on high-end and low-end devices. The player also uses compression algorithms in order to ensure that it streams well no matter what data a consumer uses.
