  • Another round of disruption comes from Netflix by cutting subscription cost for new users.

What are the things you can buy with ₹5 in your pockets? Well, not much. Just 5 toffees, or a small packing of chocolate.

There is one more thing added in ₹5 purchases. Netflix seems to understand India very well. This is why Netflix subscriptions are now as low as ₹5 for 1st month for new users in the country.

If you have not used Netflix yet, here is the perfect reason provided to you by one of the most happening platforms!

Netflix Subscriptions Can’t Be This Cheap?

I’d call it affordable instead of cheap firstly. Secondly, it is true that now Netflix subscriptions are as low as ₹5. A new promotional strategy where one can surf any movie, TV show by paying just ₹5!

The streaming giant began rolling out this offer from 21st Feb. The bad news is that all the existing users will not be able to avail of this offer.

Another thing to be noted is that not all viewers will be able to avail of the offer as it will be made available only to select users in India.

Unlike Netflix subscription coming at ₹199 for mobile phone users, this promotional strategy is on its testing phase.

“This is a new marketing promotion designed to help more people discover Netflix. Depending on its success, we may roll it out more widely” – Netflix spokesperson told (Source)

The offer is valid for the users who can avail it irrespective of the plan. So, whether users choose ₹499 (Basic) plan, ₹649 (Standard) plan or ₹799 (Premium) plan Netflix subscription plan, they will be able to avail the service at INR 5 or the 1st month of their subscription.

For a price-sensitive country like India, it’s necessary to make people realize the value of money and give them a reason to spend out of their pockets. With Netflix subscription as low as ₹5, the OTT platform understands not only sentiments of the consumers but the market where it’s trying to gain market share.

Summing Up:

If Reliance JIO is disrupting the telecom sector then Netflix is surely disrupting the OTT market in India. Previously, Netflix announced that mobile phone users need to pay ₹199 as Netflix subscriptions to avail Netflix universe.

Now, after rolling out the ₹5 plan, Netflix doesn’t want to leave any space or any capturable market share to any other OTT platform.

Another masterstroke from Netflix.
