Ankit Gupta has been named by Oyo Hotels and Homes as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and SVP-frontier businesses, OYO India and South Asia said a statement issued by the company.
The appointment is part of the company’s efforts to continue investing in and attracting world-class leadership, driving the company’s innovation and growth. Frontier businesses will include Oyo’s self-run hotels (Oyo Townhouse, Collection O, SilverKey), student housing and co-living businesses, and OYO Home.
“We’ve invested in building distinctive capabilities over the past six years in purchasing, renovating and improving various forms of real estate. This has allowed us to offer unique living experiences to our customers while creating value for our asset owners. The addition of Ankit to the team will further improve our capabilities and drive financial prudence with a clear path to profitability, “said Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Oyo India, and South Asia.
“His understanding of the industry combined with financial experience will help us accelerate the next step of sustainable growth for frontier companies while remaining true to our core mission,” Kapoor added.
Gupta has over 14 years of experience and is responsible for expanding and consolidating existing opportunities in the company’s co-living, student housing, self-operated hotels and rental homes under the umbrella of frontier businesses in India and South Asia. Therefore, he will be responsible for leading the country’s Oyo Life, OYO Townhouse, O, SilverKey, and OYO House.
He leaves the McKinsey & Co organization where he was the global leader in their real estate transformation practice as a tenured partner with a mandate to drive real estate clients ‘ growth in P&L effects (scale and profitability).
He is an alumnus of IIT Bombay with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Masters’s degree in computer-aided design.
Recently, Oyo Hotels & Homes elected Aditya Ghosh to the board of directors of the company, replacing him with an insider from the company as CEO of the hotel business in India and South Asia.

Ghosh will join Oyo’s founder and group CEO Ritesh Agarwal, Betsy Atkins, founder and CEO, Baja Corporation and Munish Varma, managing partner, SoftBank Vision Fund, Bejul Somaia, investor, Lightspeed India Partners Advisors, Mohit Bhatnagar, managing director, Sequoia Capital India Advisor, among others
