Paytm Payments Bank (PPB), incorporated in August 2016, started its operations in 2017 and now has more than 25 crores of wallet accounts and 4.4 crores of savings account. The accounts together have a cumulative deposit of ₹400 Crores. To improve their operations and number equally, PPB has appointed Sairee Chahal to the Board of Directors.

Satish Gupta, CEO of PPB stated that the board is extremely happy to get Chahal on board, as she would be a great asset to Paytm given her expertise in the customer service ecosystem. Chahal responded with similar delight, saying that she is equally delighted to be a part of a team that is looking to bring the Un-banked and under-served Indians under the one common economic ecosystem of the country.

For those of you who may be a bit surprised about this decision of Paytm, let us give you an idea about the work Sairee Chahal has done with her own company Sheroes in recent years. She started Sheroes as a conscious effort to help the women in the country. She built a community platform for women in India who are looking for jobs across any field. You can be a poet, content writer, photographer or a manager at a bank. Sheroes provided every kind of job for the right women. It slowly expanded its wings to come with informative pieces published on their website, cooking recipes, relationship tips, career tips and what not.

Chahal came to this realization after some of the stats about Indian women puzzled her so much that she could not believe her eyes. Some of them were like India being 113 out of 136 countries listed for gender ranking, only 17% of women in the GDPed workforce, only 5% of women in leadership roles, 48% of women dropping out of work mid-way and so on. The stats just pile up and this is the reason why Chahal founded a community platform like Sheroes. She has had such tremendous success that Sheroes now has more than a million active users and has generated huge revenues in just a matter of a few years. Chahal knows the pulse of the public and hence provide services accordingly. Sheroes has managed to acquire other brands like Maya and Babygogo, to name a few, as well in recent years.

With such a huge amount of successful experience, there should be no surprise that Paytm appointed Sairee Chahal to their board of directors, as she would definitely be an asset to the company.
