- The oil-to-telecom conglomerate of Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries was ranked second-biggest brand after Apple on the FutureBrand Index 2020.
The oil-to-telecom conglomerate of Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries was ranked second-biggest brand after Apple on the FutureBrand Index 2020. “Reliance Industries excels on every attribute this year’s highest entrant at number two,” said FutureBrand, releasing its 2020 Ranking.
One of India’s most profitable companies, Reliance, it said, is “very well known” and “seen as ethically behaving” as well as being synonymous with “growth,” “innovative goods” and “great customer service.” “People particularly have a deep emotional link to the organization.”
FutureBrand, a global brand transformation firm, said part of the success of Reliance could be due to the recasting of the firm by Mukesh Ambani as a one-stop-shop for Indians. “Building on the existing petrochemical company, the chairman transformed it into a digital behemoth built to meet every customer need.
“Today, this company is active in various sectors including oil, petrochemicals, textiles, natural resources, retail, and telecommunications. Now that the firm is taking equity stakes from Google and Facebook, we may see Reliance jostling in the next index for the top spot, “it said.
Six years on from the first FutureBrand Index, FutureBrand said the environment has changed drastically, priorities have shifted and the world’s top 100 businesses are facing unprecedented obstacles, also 12 months ago.
“The FutureBrand Index is a global perception study that reorders the perception strength rather than financial strength of PwC ‘s Global Top 100 Companies by Market Cap,” it said. “While the FutureBrand Index 2020 has revealed several seismic shifts in how businesses work and how they present themselves to the outside world, one key theme has emerged: individualism.”
Apple tops the 2020 list, Samsung sixth, followed by Nvidia, Moutai, Nike, Microsoft, ASML, PayPal, and Netflix.
“A host of new entrants to our List include ASML Holdings, PayPal, Danaher, Saudi Aramco, and American Tower Corporation. In all, this year there are 15 new entrants, seven of which make it the top 20, including Reliance Industries slotting in number two,” she said.
The FutureBrand Index is not focused on interviews with customers. Unlike several other rankings, the Index offers a detailed overview of how influential companies are performing, and are expected to do so in the coming years. “We are living in extraordinary times,” it said, noting that the world is going through a century’s worst health-care crisis.
