The South Korean tech giant, Samsung, is just a few days away from announcing the brand new Galaxy M series. It will see the launch of two new phones Galaxy M10 and M20.

A common query in the minds of most people is whether the Galaxy M phones will ship with the latest Android Pie software with One UI or not. The answer is both yes and no – Galaxy M10 and M20 will be shipping with Android Oreo, but Samsung plans to update them to Pie in August.

Samsung published a notice, revealing a roadmap of when it plans to update some of its phones to Android Pie but it did not include the Galaxy M10 and M20 at the time. The notice states that both, Galaxy M10 and M20, will receive the Android Pie update only in the second half of 2019.

The Galaxy M series will be sold exclusively through Amazon India and Samsung’s Online Shop as well. The company has announced that the phones will deliver a “power-packed” performance and will be targeting young millennials specifically.

This means Samsung will most likely be bringing some changes to the design of its budget phones from what we knew them to be earlier. It has been rumored that the Galaxy M20 will be Samsung’s first phone to come with a superior 5,000mAh battery.

The M10 is rumored to get a smaller yet significant battery of 3,400mAh, which should be sufficient for a phone that is likely to come with a 720p display. The design of these two new M series is expected to keep in line with the current trend, which is why Samsung is finally adopting the notch with its Infinity-V display. Apart from that, the Galaxy M series will also bring some long due features like a Type-C port with fast-charging technology, something that is rare in the affordable segment, and something we have definitely not seen on previous affordable Samsung phones. Samsung has already confirmed in the past that its M-series phones will have a dual rear camera, so the Galaxy M10 will have dual optics on the back. Rumors also suggest that the phones will get a 13MP + 5MP configuration on the back and a possible 5MP sensor on the front. Interestingly, some reports indicate that the phones may offer a secondary camera with an ultra wide-angle lens, which would be a unique addition to see in this segment.

In an interview with Asim Warsi, Samsung India’s Vice President for the mobile division, it has been revealed that Galaxy M phones will be launched in India before they are released in global markets. He also announced that the upcoming Galaxy M phones will be priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 and they will come with great batteries supporting rapid charging.
