Telegram Touches Half Billion Installs with 25 Million New Users in Last 72 Hrs

WhatsApp’s new policies have become a boon for other apps like Signal, and Telegram. Every day, they are making new records of adding new users. The Signal user base is still very low.

Telegram is soaring with new users addition. As per the latest data revealed by the Telegram CEO, the instant messaging app has added 25 million users in the last 72 hours.

Recent Users Surge on Telegram Platform

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov is regularly updating about the current developments related to the Telegram app. Recently, Signal and Telegram saw a surge in user base.

Through a common message to all Telegram users, the Telegram support team said that “the app has crosses 500 million users mark. In the last 3 days, a whopping 25 million users downloaded the telegram app. It all became possible by users like you who encouraged friends and family members to use Telegram. Thank you all!”

Telegram Crosses 500 million downloads

Telegram is open source. It was growing gradually but the WhatsApp controversy gave it high growth. Telegram is known for its unique features that are not available with other instant messaging apps. Telegram is an advocate of the user-centric approach. It believes in users’ privacy and security.

Telegram founder also shared the data about the current popularity area wise. Maximum new downloads occurred in the Asia continent. 38% of new users installed Telegram in Asia, whereas Telegram attracted 27% new users from Europe.

21% of new users joined the instant messaging app from Latin America, whereas 8% of the Middle East and North Africa(MENA) internet users started using Telegram recently.

Telegram Future Plan

Telegram is bringing new monetization plans for the revenue. As per the new plans, premium users and businesses can choose new paid features for their benefits.

Existing features will remain free for normal users. A few days back, Telegram also announced the arrival of Ads on the platform. These advertisements will be shown only in big groups and channels. The normal user chat window will remain Ads free.

In a December 2020 statement, CEO Durov talked about future monetization plans. He said, “It will allow us to keep innovating and keep growing for decades to come. We will be able to launch countless new features and welcome billions of new users. While doing that, we will remain independent and stay true to our values, redefining how a tech company should operate,”

Telegram app was launched in 2013. Compare to WhatsApp, Telegram offers so many unique features. Channel creation, the large size of groups, mobile number privacy, large animation/gif library are a few of the features that make Telegram worthy to use.
