- TikTok-
TikTok became the most-downloaded software in the world in March 2020. During the weeks leading up to the lockout, TikTok has become the country’s most successful app. It added another 14.1 million users during the lockout, becoming second only to the Zoom. Shortly before the shutdown (March 11 through March 25), there were over 18.9 million updates to the short video sharing site. TikTok is one of the world’s most successful social media sites, and in 2019 WhatsApp led in terms of total downloads around the world. One of the reasons for the success of the app is its short-form video format, which allows users to upload and transfer content to a full-length video without putting the same effort into it.
- ZOOM Cloud Meetings-
Given multiple security issues, during the COVID-19 lockdown, the video conferencing app Zoom is among the country’s most downloaded devices. This is used primarily for community video calls, actually among the key socializing methods. Zoom only had around 125,000 users before the lockout began, according to data from US-based device analytics company Sensor Tower. Zoom acquired around 3.6 million users between 11-25 March, a number that more than quadrupled to 14.5 million in the next two weeks. However, because of numerous privacy issues, the government has banned the software for official use.
- Aarogya Setu-
On April 2 a coronavirus monitoring software called Aarogya Setu was launched by the Government. Aarogya Setu has been downloaded more than 50 million times since April 22 according to Google Play Store. One explanation for this is that it allows users to find places where people may have tested COVID-19 positive. The software also lets you regularly take a test to see whether you have virus symptoms. Aarogya Setu also offers official information about the virus and some best practices in order to stay healthy.

Ludo King is a multiplayer cross-platform game that is based on the common board game. The game can be played in a number of modes including single-player, offline multiplayer, multiplayer online, and more. Ludo King also boasts a feature of real-time chat, statistics checking, options to save the previous game and themes to improve the overall experience. During the shutdown, the userbase of Ludo King nearly tripled to 9.5 million, up from 3.7 million from March 1 through March 11. Ludo King has earned more downloads since March 1, than PUBG Mobile, one of the most popular mobile games in India.

UVideo is an app that gives WhatsApp video statuses. UVideo lets you download and post high-quality WhatsApp videos as your statuses. There is also a range of apps in the app to make the overall experience more enjoyable. UVideo gained prominence during the lockout, reaching 8.6 million users from March 25 and April 10, according to Sensor Tower, first spotted by The Print. Today, the app has more than 50 million users worldwide.
