For August 2020, TikTok was the world’s most downloaded non-gaming app with more than 63.3 million installations, representing a 1.6 percent increase from August 2019. During this period, the countries with the most installs of the app were Indonesia with 11 percent of its total downloads and Brazil with 9 percent. The full top 10 worldwide download ranking of non-gaming apps for August 2020 is above. The estimates for downloading the app are from the Store Intelligence platform of Sensor Tower.
ZOOM was the second most-installed non-gaming app with more than 52.2 million installations worldwide last month, 22.2 times its August 2019 downloads. India was the country with the largest number of ZOOM installs at 25 percent, followed by the United States at 19.5 percent. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp rounded out the month’s top five most non-gaming apps installed worldwide.
Notably, the list is for applications related to nongaming, so that titles for video games are not ranked. In addition, despite the original boom period coming to an end, Zoom is still doing extremely well in the Apple App Store with more than 52.2 million downloads coming in on the second. The application fell to its 5th position on Android. Other known names like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram can also be found on the list. Though on different platforms these social media platforms can be found in varying positions.
