Tiktok, the short video giant, did not find any global competitor yet that can stop its exponential growth worldwide. The Chinese short video platform is ruling the chart again and again among the most downloaded apps worldwide. In April also, the results are the same. Tiktok is the most downloaded app in last month with 59 million+ installs.

How did Tiktok Become the Most Downloaded App?

Tiktok, the founder of a short video feature, is ruling the world with its unique offerings. Big giants like Youtube, Facebook, and others copied its features and business model, but no one came closer to Tiktok’s huge popularity.

As per Sensor Tower, Tiktok has crossed 59 million downloads in April 2021 to become the most installed app globally.

In April, Brazil contributed the maximum in Tiktok downloads. It has a 13% share of total downloads completed by Tiktok. Douyin in China is always contributing to help Tiktok’s ranking. In April month also, it occupied second place after Brazil in Tiktok’s downloads. Overall, it has a 12% share in total downloads of Tiktok.

Sensor Tower Platform releases the download estimates of all apps monthly. It analyses the downloads on Play Store and App Store platforms. It does not consider any other third-party apps installs except these two recognized platforms. And for taking the overall estimates, it considers all versions like Facebook lite, Facebook as a single app.

Sensor Tower does not include the preinstalled apps in its estimates released monthly. The platform always considers the unique installs between the first and 30th days of every month. For example, the latest ranking was released based on downloads completed between 1st to 30th April of 2021.

Tiktok also ranks first on App Store and Play Store individually. In March, and February month also, Tiktok was the most downloaded app globally. Not only that, but Tiktok was also the most downloaded app in 2020 as well.

Rankings of Remaining Apps in April 2021

After Tiktok, the Facebook-owned app has occupied the remaining top four positions in April 2021 in terms of downloads. Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger rank second, third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, in most downloads in April 2021.

In March month also, these four apps occupied the same rankings in terms of total installs worldwide.

Facebook was downloaded more than 53 million times to occupy the second rank in April. India contributed maximum in Facebook downloads with a total of 26% share of overall Facebook downloads. The United States is the second country with 7% of total install shares in April 2021 to help Facebook occupy the second position.

Facebook has recently announced several voice-based products based on voice features. Voice room on Facebook, Spotify podcast player on Facebook, short voice app are some of them. It all happened due to the immense popularity of Clubhouse, a voice-based social network.

WhatsApp had also come out from the negative publicity against it due to the update in its privacy policies. Now, users are coming back to Whatsapp. And that is the major reason behind Whatsapp’s more downloads in recent times.
