But who are these top FMCG brands in India? Here we are, putting forward a list of 5 FMCG brands that are ruling every rack in every mall. Without wasting much time, let’s have a look at our top 5 FMCG bran list:

1. Hindustan Unilever Limited – Hath, Munh aur Bum!

HUL - NBB

Without a doubt, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) grabs the topmost position in the list. With a market cap surpassing ₹ 4420 billion, HUL is a conglomerate among top FMCG brands in India.

In fact, HUL was among the last to hold their GST meet but the 1st company to do it with complete information and all stakeholders, including government officials on the table. HUL was also the 1st to pass on the benefits to its consumers and all this was possible because of hard work done by this FMCG brand.

At the inaugural session of the FICCI Massmerize 2019 on Wednesday, Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director,Hindustan Unilever Ltd, said,  “ For Unilever, India is currently the largest market in volume terms and the second largest in value terms and in the very near future we clearly see a day when we would become the largest market for Unilever in the world.”

The brand is also known for its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Here are some achievements, that contributed to the overall change in society as well as a country:

After spending 88 years in India, HUL definitely deserves to be on the topmost position of top FMCG brands in India.

2. ITC India – Ensuring Purity in Prayer!

ITC India grabs 2nd position on the list of top FMCG companies in India with a market cap of more than ₹ 2920 billion. ITC is not only an FMCG brand but with time they have broadened their presence and touching sectors like hotels, packaging, paperboards, agri-business.

One thing about ITC India that is over and above all its achievements is that the company is working hard towards creating sustainable livelihoods for more than 6 million people who represent rural India.

Once a major brand that was broadly known for cigarettes has been a lot more than what it initially offered. It has diversified and expanded to become one of the most respected brands globally.

It’s e-Choupal initiative directly links rural farmers with ITC through the internet for the procurement of agricultural products like soybeans, wheat, coffee, and many other things. With 6500 e-choupals installed nationwide, more than 4 million farmers have been benefitted.

Another initiative towards women empowerment aims to provide women with opportunities to earn independent incomes. There is a special focus on ultra-poor women who are living in extreme poverty. With this initiative, more than 15,000 women are said to be elevated.

3. Nestlé: Born Better!

With more than 150 years of existence, Nestlé brand definitely deserves a spot in top FMCG brands in India. With a market cap surpassing ₹ 1500 billion, Nestlé is a warrior, survivor and its growth just gets higher & higher!

4. Britannia – Eat Healthy, Think Better!

Standing in 4th position, Britannia is another FMCG brand in India having a market cap of more than ₹ 745.48 billion. With a 127-year-old history in India, it is still people’s favorite FMCG brand. The company started with an initial investment of merely ₹ 295/- which now a multimillionaire player without a doubt.

Its superstar biscuit brand Bourbon celebrated 60 years of existence (first launched in 1955) and in 2014, the company tied up with eCommerce giant Amazon to launch Good Day Chunkies a premium product. Britannia brand is operational in more than 60 countries globally.

5. Procter & Gamble – Touching Lives Improving Lives!

Last but not the least, Procter & Gamble stands at number 5 as top FMCG brands in India. Though the company has a market cap of ₹ 314.99 billion the company is said to be the fastest-growing and in the coming time, we might see it reaching up on the list.

Established in 1964, withing 55 years of existence the company is now serving more than 650 million consumers in India. The company is known for its strict recruitment policy, less than 1% of applicants are hired every year.
