On Wednesday, the Swedish caller recognition app Truecaller launched new features, including one that allows users to create a reason for their call and allows the recipient to verify whether the incoming call is personal, business, or urgent.
This feature, called “Call Reason,” is expected to increase pick up rates, especially when callers are calling from new numbers.

“Schedule SMS” and “SMS Translate” are the other two features launched by Truecaller for its 250 million active users globally.
“We are excited about the launch of Call Purpose, Schedule SMS, and SMS Translate. We have been working to develop an ambitious communication suite for our customers and these three features are the next major step in line with this project,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Truecaller’s Chief Product Officer, while unveiling the new features at a virtual event.
Truecaller said Call Purpose will start rolling out to all Android users on Wednesday and will be released early next year for iOS.
The new Schedule SMS functionality expands the Caller ID functionality of the app to allow users to schedule a message reminder of any activities, meetings, or what groceries at the end of the day you need to pick up.
Users can schedule SMS by simply selecting the icon and choosing a date and time while messaging. Then your message will be sent, and you’ll still be able to see it in your chat as planned. This functionality is available for Android users only.
The SMS Translate feature also allows users to translate the content of their messages directly into Truecaller instantly without leaving the app. This feature works with both SMS and instant messages (IM).
The app automatically detects if the messaging screen uses a foreign language and indicates that a translation is available. This feature is powered by the ML Kit from Google and all messages are processed on the phone locally, which means your message content never leaves your computer.
Until translation starts, language packs are downloaded to your computer. In order to use them offline, anywhere, and wherever, users can also download additional languages. Only for Android will the SMS Translate feature be available.
All these features will be free for all customers, said Truecaller, which reported to have 185 million monthly active users in India earlier this month and more than 150 million daily active users.
Recently, Truecaller has hit a landmark of 250 million monthly active users (MAU) and 200 million daily active users (DAU) worldwide with its mobile application
