Earlier this year, PepsiCo had announced that it was divesting its South and West bottling franchise to Varun Beverages, its longtime bottling partner. Now, the latter is opening its own unit in Pathankot, Punjab, worth 550 Crore INR. The two brands released a joint statement saying that his unit will be manufacturing almost of all PepsiCo’s leading products. They will be responsible for manufacturing Tropicana’s entire range of juices, Aquafina water, dairy-based products, Lipton Ice Tea, Gatorade, and carbonated soft drinks.
Spread over 41 acres of prime land, this manufacturing unit is a first of a kind – as it is the only one that is an integrated facility that can manufacture a wide range of PepsiCo products. With this unit in place, estimates suggest that they will generate 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in Punjab, contributing to the state’s economy.

Mr. Ahmed EiSheikh, the CEO and India President of PepsiCo, said: “This new facility will act as a hub to address the growing demand for our well-loved beverage portfolio among consumers in the state and beyond.”
