Walmart Inc’s wholly-owned subsidiary – Walmart India, announced on Saturday, the opening of its 22nd Cash and Carry business-to-business shop in the nation, making it the second Best Price Modern Wholesale store in Ludhiana and the sixth in Punjab.
Punjab is a major supply location for Walmart India and the business provides food products such as new vegetables, agricultural products, staples, meat and drinks and non-food products including plastic goods, glassware, decorative products, brooms, mattresses, among others.
At the same time, the fresh shop has been incorporated with the B2B e-commerce platform, making it the 22nd best price online store, a report said.

Establishing a second shop in Ludhiana and sixth in Punjab reinforces our faith in the ease of doing company here in India, said Walmart India President and CEO Krish Iyer.
The Best Price Modern Wholesale Store holds more than 5,000 products including a broad variety of fresh, frozen and chilled ingredients, fruits and vegetables, dry grocery stores, private and home care products, hotel and restaurant equipment, clothing, office supplies, electronic products and other general merchandise.
The establishment of each shop, according to Walmart India, generates 2,000 immediate and indirect employment, boosting the ecosystem of MSME suppliers, promoting local producers by directly sourcing them, and offering instruction.
The firm said the freshly opened shop will operate on energy-efficient alternatives, renewable energy, and recycled water and waste management, harvesting water, and substituting sustainable storage solutions for single-use plastic.

In 2007, Walmart joined India and opened its first shop in May 2009 in Amritsar, Punjab. In 2013, Walmart India became the wholly-owned subsidiary of Walmart Inc. It also runs three national satisfaction centers at Mumbai, Lucknow, and Hyderabad. The company of Walmart India in India is based on membership. It has over a million employees, most of whom are tiny resellers and kiranas (mother and pop shops).
Hotels, restaurants, departments and organizations are the other company sectors that make up its participants.
Walmart also has its global sourcing center and technology center, called Walmart Labs, in relation to the cash-and-carry company in India. It is also the main shareholder in the biggie Flipkart homegrown e-commerce.
