- Microsoft announced that Windows 10 has reached the mark of 1 billion monthly active users in March 2022 within 5 years of its launch in 2015.
Microsoft had revealed back in 2015 when Windows 10 was launched, that it intends to have 1 billion devices operating on it by 2018. It’s been two years slower but on Windows 10, Microsoft reached the mark of 1 billion monthly active users.
In a blog post, Microsoft revealed its latest achievement that customers across 200 countries are using Windows 10 and more than 1 billion active apps. “One in every seven people on the planet is preparing, making, developing, implementing, traveling, shaking and doing great things with Windows 10,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Modern Life, Search & Apps.
Reaching a billion people with Windows 10 is just the beginning. We will invest in Windows not only within Windows 10 for PCs but also across many other Windows editions, serving diverse customer needs including Windows IoT, Windows 10 Teams edition for Surface Hub, Windows Server, Windows Mixed Reality on HoloLens, Windows 10 in S mode, Windows 10X and more.
We are inspired by the ways you use Windows 10, and we look forward to seeing how you continue to use these billion devices in new and exciting ways to power the world.
