IT Major Wipro today appointed Thierry Delaporte as its new Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) and Managing Director (MD) from Capgemini. Abidali Neemuchwala will resign on June 1 as CEO and MD Rishad Premji will manage the company’s day-to-day activities until July 5 and Delaporte will join Wipro on July 6.

Until recently, Thierry Delaporte was the Chief Operating Officer of the Capgemini Group and a member of the Company Executive Board. During his 25-year career with Capgemini, he held many leadership positions including that of Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic Business Unit for Global Financial Services and Head of all global service lines.
He also supervised the India operations of Capgemini, and led the transformation strategy for the company, conceptualizing and guiding many strategic initiatives across various business units.

Delaporte holds a Bachelor of Economics and Finance degree from Sciences Po Paris and a Master of Laws degree from Sorbonne University. He is also the co-founder and President of Life Project 4 Youth, a non-profit organization.
As of July 6, Delaporte starts work. He will be based in Paris and will report to Premji Rishad. Thierry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from Sciences Po Paris and a Masters in Law from the University in Sorbonne. He is also the co-founder and President of Life Project 4 Youth, a non-profit organization.
Wipro has lagged larger peers for nearly a decade among the first companies to ride the outsourcing boom, a period that saw four top executives in the helm.
Neemuchala, based in Texas, had a tough time at Wipro. During the last four years, he has dealt with acquisitions, company bankruptcies, and market restructuring in India and West Asia.
