As vacations are cancelled and individuals are mandated to work from home, the hospitality sector has reached a nearly complete halt both from tourism and corporate journey. As a result, the whole value of the top 10 most valuable hotel brands has dropped 33% year on year, down from US$70.2 billion in 2020 to US$47.4 billion in 2021.
The hotels sector has fully ground to a deadlock over the last year, the repercussions of which are indicated by the strong brand value decline for almost all of the top 50 most valuable hotel brands. The sector is a resilient one, however. As the world begins to unlock back up again, we are already seeing a solid improvement in bookings and occupancy levels across the globe, showcasing the strength of brands despite the agitation of the last year. Brand Finance released the list of most valuable hotel brands of 2021, and here is a brief insight of the year.
- The absolute value of the world’s top 50 most valuable hotel brands has fallen by 33% (US$22.8 billion) as sector haggles fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Hyatt is the quickest expanding brand in top 10 and one of only two brands to record label value growth in first 50, up 4 percent.
- New entrant Taj is sector’s strongest, with AAA strength rating.

Hilton has continued its heritage to be the number one multinational hotel brand despite declining its brand value. As per the Brand Finance report, Hilton hotel keeps the title of the world’s most valuable hotel brand, despite registering 30% brand value drop to US$7.6 billion.
