In the current festive sales through online and offline stores, Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has sold more than five lakh televisions in the country.

Xiaomi said that this festive season’s Mi TV is the highest-selling TV on Amazon and Flipkart. Last year, Xiaomi went to India’s television market.

Xiaomi India lead (TV) group Eshwar Nilakantan said it was India’s first brand to reach this sales milestone in less than a month.

“Our smart television company was born in 2018 and has flourished well in India. We became the number one smart television brand in India in a short span of three months since its launch and continued our run for five consecutive quarters,” he said.

Xiaomi is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, claiming to be the largest smart television brand and citing IDC results. Today, the company assembles approximately 85% of the televisions it sells in India locally.

Several smartphone makers, such as Lenovo-owned Motorola and OnePlus, are now entering India’s smart television market.

After OnePlus and Motorola, Charles Peng, President of Honor India, told that the company will be competitively pricing its goods for the Indian market and releasing a slew of smart devices such as speakers. “We’re working with leading e-commerce players for our TV.” Huawei’s sub-brand Honor unveiled its flagship TV at the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2019, named’ Honor Vision ‘ smart screen, which features a 55-inch 4 K HDR display with a 94 percent screen-to-body ratio.

OnePlus launched its Smart TV in India on 26th September. The TV set is rumored to have a powerful processor along with displays ranging from 44 inches to 75 inches. The TV is also rumored to have a Dolby speaker set of 8 speakers and unreal voice quality.

The Indian TV market has seen a jump in the Smart TV consumers due to the affordability provided by Xiaomi old TV Sets. The sales have grown to 43% in Q12019 compared to 18% a year ago in India.
