YouTube is the Most Trusted Media Brand among Kids:Ormax Survey

Top 5 Kids Favorite Brands:Ormax Survey

India-based media consulting organization Ormax Media has surveyed kids having age 6-14 years. This survey is titled Ormax Brand Trust Survey 2021. As per the findings of this survey, Youtube ranks first among the most trusted brands for Indian Kids.

Ormax conducted this survey in December 2020 and January 2021. For doing this survey, 10 cities were selected from India. Total of 44 brands featured in this survey based on kids’ responses. These brands belong to different categories like television, social media, gaming, digital, and film sector.

Top 5 Trusted Brands by the Kids by Ormax Survey of 2021

YouTube that scored the first rank achieved the brand trust score of 71% of the total samples taken by Ormax. Due to the wide range of contents, Youtube left behind its competitors with a big margin. Over Youtube, Kids enjoy Cartoon channels, games, kids channel, and other graphics-rich content.

YouTube also understands its popularity among the kids. Since some of the content from general youtube is not appropriate for the kids, so the company has dedicated a new app YouTube Kids to the children. This kids-oriented app has curated the contents to fit the children’s needs.

Ludo King, one of the most popular online games, achieved the second rank with a brand trust score of 65%. In December 2020, the Indian board game Ludo King crossed half a billion downloads on Google Play Store.

WhatsApp, the largest instant messaging app worldwide, scored 63% brand trust score to get 3rd ranking. It also indicates that the Current new policy Whatsapp controversy is slowly fading away. Kids are using WhatsApp to connect with their friends and family members.

Subway Surfers and Garena Free Fires are the other two brands that secured 4th and 5th positions respectively with a brand trust score of 62% and 61%.

This study revealed a few interesting details about the popular brands among kids. First, all the top five brands belong to the digital media category. It shows the dominant nature of digital products. Digital brands are the future. Traditional organizations are investing fearlessly in the digital field due to the impact of digital brands over the world.

The dominance of Online gaming is the second key finding of this study. Three online games found the place in the top 5 trusted brands. Online gaming or fantasy sports growth is not hidden from anyone.

Other Survey Details and Ormax CEO Point of View about the Current Research

Big business giants like Jio, Mediatek are organizing online gaming events to leverage the situation. Online gaming platforms like MPL, Dream11 have established their names in a short period. Online gaming is one of the industries that grew exponentially in the current pandemic era.

Among TV channels, Hungama, SAB Tv, Cartoon Network, and Nick Tv found their places in the top 10 most trusted brands. Due to the popularity of superheroes among kids, Marvel also found a place in the top 10 ranking.

Surprisingly, even after the Indian Government’s latest notification about the Chinese app ban, TikTok and PUBG mobile has emerged in the top 20 most trusted brands list. It indicates that kids are still hopeful about the relaunch of these applications. While both the brands are trying hard to start their operations in India, TikTok Indian Operations’ hope has faded away with the recent TikTok employees firing by its parent company Bytedance.

When asked about the current findings of Ormax extensive research, Shailesh Kapoor, Founder & CEO – Ormax Media said:

“This report is a decisive verdict on the growing resonance of digital media among urban Indian kids. A clean sweep of the top 5 positions by digital brands, ahead of legacy brands in the television space, would have been unthinkable even 2-3 years ago. Digital brands completely dominate the media landscape of older kids (10-14 yrs.) and boys, taking 8 and 7 of the top 10 positions respectively in these segments”.
